ECFH Supports Cultural Literacy

The East Caribbean Financial Holding Company Ltd (ECFH) this week reaffirmed its commitment to the preservation and promotion of local culture. Officials of ECFH presented a cheque in the amount of EC$10,000 to the Folk Research Centre (FRC) for the hosting of the Creole Literacy Programme aimed at school children and adults in St. Lucia. A portion of the funds will also be used for the La Wenn Kweyol Pageant to be held during Creole Heritage Month in October.

The Creole Literacy Programme, which has gained significant popularity over the years, will provide both adults and Common Entrance Students from a number of schools, with the opportunity to experience the richness of St. Lucia’s culture in an interactive, educational environment.  The main objective of the programme is to increase the awareness and knowledge of St. Lucian culture among both adults and students. The student programme takes place from July 3rd to 13th with two sessions from 10:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. and from 12:30 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. daily at the Folk Research Centre. The adult programme will take place during Creole Heritage Month in October.

The ECFH Group has remained steadfast over the years with major contributions to the cultural development of Saint Lucia, particularly in supporting programmes geared at promoting cultural awareness and education among adults and young people in Saint Lucia -  Youth development is at the heart of ECFH’s corporate social responsibility.
